Hey there, it’s me, Opal, but you can call me Op

Hey there, it’s me, Opal, but you can call me Opie – the undisputed queen of the majestic sploot! Oh, and did I mention I have some mad skills? I’m the master shredder of cabbage, and I take my role as the defluffer of stuffies very seriously. You could say I’m a true artist in my own right!

Now, let me tell you about the new and improved Opal. I’ve blossomed since joining this crew, and now I’m the sweetest, most affectionate girl you’ll ever meet. I’ve got a serious soft spot for my pug and pittie foster siblings – I’m basically their personal paw therapist, constantly pawing at them or giving out some good old doggy kisses for that top-notch attention.

I’m used to the whole work-from-home vibe, but I’m a master of adaptability. Changing schedules? No problemo. And if you ever need to stash me in a crate or kennel, I’m cool with that. I’m a bit on the shy side when we’ve got house guests or are venturing outside the home, but we’re working hard to boost my confidence – it’s a real-life makeover story in the making!

When it comes to solo entertainment, I’m a pro. Toys? Check. Chew bones and sticks? You betcha. But the pièce de résistance? A head of cabbage, which I absolutely adore shredding to bits. I’m all about mentally stimulating and interactive toys, especially during meal times. I like to work for my food – it’s like a delicious puzzle for me. Plus, I’m incredibly treat-motivated and a quick study when it comes to commands.

To sum it up, I’m basically the full package of sweetness, and I’d make an A+ companion. So, what do you say? Ready to welcome the one and only Opie into your world? I’m pretty sure we’re destined for some epic adventures together!

Attention, attention… mark your calendars! TOMORROW voting begins at Cherrity Bar for Charity of the Year. ✨

We need all our supporters to rally as competition heats up between the top 3 earning charities of 2023: Guardians of the Children, ALAMO CITY PIT BULL RESCUE, and SA Youth. We know… it’s going to be a tough competition between dogs and kids but our fur pawrents will show up and show out! All December long, voting is open for each of the three charities: 1 chip per guest per visit, no purchase necessary. There will also be a specialty cocktail available (who remembers the delicious “Pittie Punch?!”).

All day long on the 16th, 10% of the proceeds from paying patrons will be donated to ACPBR. We’ll be on site with a few of our adoptable doggos from 5-8pm. Let’s get some pitties home for the pawlidays and start 2024 off with a big, ACPBR win! Tell all your furends!

Hey there, I'm Odie, and I've got a special talent

Hey there, I'm Odie, and I've got a special talent – I get the spizzarinktums, or as some folks call them, the zoomies! When it hits me, I zoom all the way down the front deck, through the covered porch, down the walkway to the back deck, out into the yard, and back, over and over. Finally, I make a gravity-defying leap onto my private sun deck, also known as the picnic table. From there, I keep my keen eye out for potential new pals approaching the house. There are passersby almost every day, and the lady calls them the postman and UPS – they're part of my daily entertainment!

I'm a pro when it comes to potty training and know how to sit, shake, and stay – I'm like the goodest of the good boys. But what really makes my tail wag is tennis balls, treats, biscuits, people, and chew toys galore! You could say I'm living the doggy dream.

When it comes to hanging with kids, I'm all about the seven-and-up crowd, but the littles might find my boundless energy a bit too much to handle – both the tiny humans and the doggos. The little, grumpy old lady dog I live with gives me the cold shoulder and calls me Tigger when I try to play. Can't blame her, though, I'm pretty much a bundle of joy on four legs!

Even though I'm often a ball of energy, I can also settle down nicely in my crate. Oh, and here's the kicker – I've got a spot on my neck shaped like a 'W,' and the lady says it stands for WonderDog. Cool, right?

Now, I've got to run because this is Odie the WonderDog, and I'm off to infinity and beyond... or maybe just a cozy nap.

"My favorite part as a foster is seeing my old fosters happy in their new homes, and knowing that I was part of their journey to get there. Often, it takes time for them to fully show their personalities, but when they do they just win you over. Each foster has been an amazing experience."
